T-shirts and telephones destined for the garbage dump were turned into wearable art, thanks to a group of high school students.
Seniors at University Laboratory School held their annual recycle-a-thon Sunday. They encouraged folks to turn trash into fashionable creations.
For example, t-shirts were turned into bags, and twisted telephone wires into bracelets.
"If we do this it will minimize the amount of waste we are doing because usually people use a shirt and throw it out, or use a shirt and don’t pass it on to someone," said senior Gabriella Gualono.
The students also collected plastic bottles, computers and phone books to be recycled or re-purposed.
