High surf on the North Shore keeps lifeguards busy

According to Ocean Safety officials there were 500 preventative actions taken at Waimea Bay Monday afterrnoon.

Officials say, as of 4 p.m. there also were 25 assists, two people transported and two people who suffered shoulder injuries.

Officials are also working with city parks to close down the beach tonight at 6 p.m.  Ocean Safety plans to reassess the situation in the morning due to high surf.
