Hirono defeats Lingle in race for U.S. Senate

In the race for U.S. Senate, Democrat Mazie Hirono has defeated Republican Linda Lingle.

Hirono lead the third results printout with 63 percent of the vote, over Lingle’s 37 percent.

Lingle conceded the race after the second printout. Hirono takes the seat being vacated by long-time Democratic Senator Daniel Akaka.
