Homeless evicted from Queen Street in Kakaako

Homeless people who’ve lived in vehicles and makeshift structures on Queen Street in Kakaako were cleared from the area Monday.

The Hawaii Community Development Authority issued a notice of violation to the land owner, Kakaako Land Company, stating the structures and vehicles were in violation of zoning rules.

Officials gave several warnings to more than a dozen people and offered outreach for placement.  Several vehicles were towed away.  There was no resistance and no arrests.

The area will be used by Kama’aina Pest Control for parking.
