Homeless family of four seeks help to leave Hawaii

A Hawaii lawmaker and homeless advocates are asking for the public’s help to secure one-way flight tickets for a family of four to be reunited with family on the mainland.

Officials say the family is currently homeless and fleeing a domestic abuse situation.

"I had to do what I could to keep my kids safe, even if it meant leaving my job and home," said the mother of the family.

Officials say the family is in need of housing and employment and was offered help from a relative in Georgia.

Officials say the mother is also taking care of her four-year-old daughter who has autism and needs special medical attention.

Supporters are hoping to secure about $1,800 needed to purchase one-way flight tickets from Hawaii to Georgia.

Those wishing to make a donation should contact Robert Dunham of "Help The Hawaii Homeless" at #888-774-8911.
