A malfunction in an air-conditioning unit caused a lot of smoke at the Honolulu Airport Tuesday night.
It started about 7 p.m. in the basement of baggage claim "B."
According to a state transportation spokesman, the system shut down when it broke but it was still hot which created the smoke.
Baggage claim "B" was not being used at the time and was not scheduled for use the rest of the evening.
Airport operations were not impacted and no injuries were reported.
