The Honolulu Festival returns for its 18th year with live musical and cultural performances, and art exhibits by groups from Japan and other Pacific Rim countries.
Press conference will be held Tuesday from 10 a.m. at Waikiki Beach Walk. Mayor Peter Carlisle is scheduled to deliver a speech, along with live performance by ManoaDNA and food tasting by Ruth’s Chris Steak House.
This year’s festivities will feature a spectacular fireworks show from Nagaoka, Japan, following the Waikiki Grand Parade on March 3-4. Hawaii’s premier cultural festival is free to the public and taking place in three locations in Waikiki.
Last Year’s fireworks show was canceled and many groups from Japan scheduled to perform had to forego their travel plans following the Japan earthquake and tsunami that occurred March 11, 2011, the eve of the festival.
