HPD restarts community policing team in Waikiki

The Honolulu Police Department recently re-started its community policing team in Waikiki.

Police made the announcement to residents Tuesday night at the Waikiki neighborhood board meeting.

And they’ve already made some big busts.

"As you know a small percentage responsible for a big percentage of the crime," said Capt. Ryan Borges, Honolulu Police Department. "So we’re addressing the issue. We arrested one kid for robbery and had a stakeout at the zoo, and arrested two males and are probably going to deport them back to where they came from."

Police also say they need the community as partners, and urge residents to report any suspicious activity.
