Huge star compass unveiled at KCC

There’s something new at Kapiolani Community College.

The school just finished installing the Hawaiian Star Compass, it’s 26 feet in diameter.

The device was used long ago by polynesian voyagers as they traveled across the Pacific ocean.

The Hawaiian star compass will be used as a teaching tool for KCC’s Hawaiian language and studies programs.

It was unveiled during a fundraising event Saturday night in support of Hokule’a.
