It all started….because of a hazardous condition.
Fire officials say several people reported irritation in their throats around 12:30.
While crews searched for the cause of the odor, 10 people were evacuated…and that’s when the illegal game room was discovered.
"I just hope that i don’t have to be accountable for this I made an honest mistake," says Michael De Carlo.
The building is also used by Door to Door Auto detailing.
De Carlo rents out the space where the illegal game room was found.
About a week ago, he says a man agreed to rent it for $1500 a month.
"The economy the way it is today it’s been kind of slow it would off set my rent it would help me out i got kids," says De Carlo.
De Carlo says Saturday morning he noticed some suspicious activity in and around the building.
"People walking in around that wasn’t never here before I saw people going in and out and then I thought something is not right that’s the normal behavior," says De Carlo.
De Carlo says he called the man renting the space…. to find out what was going on.
"I called him he hung up on me, after he hung up on me i came back at around 10:45 last night," says De Carlo.
When he came back saturday night he says he went into the room and saw about 20 people.
"Came here I walked in I had a friend with me I walked in and I told everybody get the hell out. Once they got out some guy approached me and started chasing after me and I called police and police said just get out of here " says De Carlo.
De Carlo says he’s learned from the incident and is cooperating with police on the investigation.
"Make sure you know the people you’re dealing with," says De Carlo.
De Carlo hopes the incident will not have a negative impact on his business.
Police have not said if any arrests were made.
