Image of Hawaii volcano chosen to appear on a new line of quarters

An image depicting a Hawaii volcano has been selected to appear on a new line of quarters.

The image will include an eruption on the east rift of Kilauea volcano.

It will be the fourth coin in the United States Mint’s "America the Beautiful Quarters Program."

The 2012 Hawaii Volcanoes National Park Quarter is scheduled to be released on Aug. 27.

The park was the 11th national park created in the country.

The Kilauea volcano has been continuously erupting since 1983.

The quarter is designed and sculpted by artist Charles Vickers.
