A Kalihi man is in police custody accused of attacking his elderly relative.
According to police, the 18-year-old suspect and 79-year-old male victim live together in Kalihi.
Police say a family friend went to their home Monday and found the victim in the kitchen with massive head injuries.
Honolulu police arrested the suspect on suspicion of attempted murder.
The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
