Kauai hiker apparently swept out to sea

Rescuers from the Kauai Fire Department, with assistance from a fire department helicopter, lifeguards from the Ocean Safety Bureau, and the U.S. Coast Guard were conducting a search Thursday night for a missing female hiker in waters off Hanakapiai Beach, according to Kauai County officials.
