Kauai postal service worker pleads guilty to firearms charges

A Kauai postal service worker has pled guilty to federal firearms charges.

The US Attorney’s office says Troy Hamura pled guilty to illegally possessing a machine gun and making false statements in connection with purchasing a firearm.

Hamura was arrested in July after federal agents recovered 19 unregistered firearms in his home.

Prosecutors say Hamura used the postal service to intercept a rifle he ordered from a Florida gun dealer using someone else’s federal firearms license without permission.

If convicted, Hamura faces up to 10 years in prison.
