Kirk Caldwell has his eye on the mayor’s office.
He’s expected to officially announce his candidacy at a news conference Thursday morning.
Caldwell then lost the special election to Peter Carlisle.
Carlisle plans to run for the office as well. Former Governor Ben Cayateno has shown signs he may also run for mayor, primarily to stop the rail project, which he believes will be a financial disaster for Honolulu.
