Maui firefighters responded to a Kula structure fire Monday that prompted extinguishers to cut open the structure’s chimney to get to the fire.
They came to a call just before 5 p.m. at 658 Piliwale Road. By the time they had arrived, a commercial type coffee roaster located in the structure had caught on fire.
The fire was isolated to the chaff chimney, which was then cut open to help extinguish the flames.
The cause and estimated damages are still under investigation.
