Volunteers with AARP are expressing their displeasure over pension income as many of them real on higher fuel and energy prices.
The AARP members aim armed in red shorts as house lawmakers attempt to push forward a pension tax on individuals earning over $100,000 pension and $200,000 for married couple.
The senate is holding a line not wanting a tax income at all at least during the legislative session.
Here’s a look at the budget draft passed Thursday night.
$11 billion in fiscal year 2012 and $10.9 billion in fiscal year 2013.
General fund portion of the budget is $5.4 billion followed by $5.5 billion.
The entire budget for each year represents a 7 percent increase in spending over the current budget that ends June 30.
Lawmakers however want you to look at these numbers as well the budget shortfalls over the past three years totaling $4.6 billion.
Lawmakers did make some cuts to programs totaling $120 million and have budgeted labor savings of 5 percent even though HSTA and UPW have yet to settle.
