A recent letter to the editor called the NIL “a bloody joke,” citing that he had to pay for his books while tuition, room and board were covered with a full college baseball scholarship (“Glad no state funding for student athletes’ NIL pay,” Star-Advertiser, June 6). College baseball, like most college sports, is a money loser, and the writer was lucky to have had his education subsidized.
