At Manoa District Park, since recent state-funded work, it is sad to see the exposed roots of native hala trees by the Kahaloa Bridge, the stream bank stripped of vegetation, eroded and undermined. Dredging accelerated stream flow, causing the stream to carve into its own denuded banks. Hala trees have been falling into the stream and dying due to destabilization of the bank. Others have been removed from the walkway landscaping.
