Hawaii requires drinking water to sustain life in the islands. Our fresh- water system requires electricity to pump and distribute ground water. Our “Green 2045” power plan is based upon a predominance of alternate solar/wind technology, the most fragile/expensive source of electric power there is. Rolling power outages are currently a very common occurrence. Will the next inevitable hurricane disaster clean our electric clock? Could we end up without electricity to pump and distribute water? We can’t drink ocean water. A gallon of fresh water per day, per person is the standard.
