I took up carving Burmese jade as a therapeutic pastime, and have been purchasing this rare material from Asia. Like everyone else, I’m normally mystified when I go to the store and buy things gradually marked up on shelves. However, there is no denying the tariff bill I abruptly got from FedEx for a piece of rock from Malaysia. I could’ve bought two loads of groceries with the amount levied by Donald Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs. I’ve got hard proof that Americans bear all the tariff burden.
