Letter: Setting record straight on monument fishing

A recent letter writer falsely stated that if the government opens Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument, it would not mean industrial-scale fishing (“Open monument to sustainable fishing,” Star-Advertiser, Oct. 26). The claim that rolling back prohibitions would allow only Hawaii’s U.S.-flagged vessels, fewer than two dozen small boats, to fish is completely incorrect.
