Letter: Un-American behavior disguised as patriotism

Today we will celebrate the 249th birthday of the United States. This day of fun, picnics and fireworks — all wrapped in red, white and blue — will not be so light-hearted this year. Shame, embarrassment and fear will cloud the celebration.
