Letter: Voter ID rules will flat-line Hawaii turnout

A letter writer’s remark on Feb. 19 that suggested more people will vote even if ID is required has me asking, “How long have you lived in Hawaii?” Everyone who is considered a longtime resident, and not someone who calls themselves a “kamaaina” just because they have lived here for five years, knows how terrible our voter turnout is. I mean, adding any more restrictions will just make it worse.
