A Honolulu ophthalmologist and volunteers from the Lions Club are giving the gift of sight to people half-way around the world.
Dr. Hugo Higa and fellow Lions Cub members sorted and prepared hundreds of pairs of donated eyeglasses.
In September, two members will travel to Afghanistan to donate the glasses to those less fortunate.
Since 2009, the group has collected more than 12,000 pairs of glasses.
