The 19-year-old man accused of stabbing his grandmother in her Waialae apartment last week made his first appearance in court Wednesday.
Court documents say on November 2, Charles ‘Kelii’ Amoy allegedly stabbed his grandmother, Aileen Amoy, 32 times. Neighbors say they heard her calls for help and rushed over to her apartment.
Court documents say neighbors entered Aileen Amoy’s apartment through a window and found her on the floor. She later told police that she was stabbed by her grandson.
Amoy was later located at his girlfriend’s dormitory on the UH Manoa campus. Court documents say when Amoy first met with his girlfriend, he was covered in blood and told her he had been in a fight with someone with a knife. Documents say Amoy later told his girlfriend that his grandmother was stabbed and that "it must have been friends of the guy he won the knife fight with."
Amoy now faces attempted murder charges. He remains in police custody on $500,000 bail.
