Man arrested after threatening city bus driver

A 35-year-old man was arrested after allegedly threatening a city bus driver Tuesday afternoon.

It happened just before 4 p.m.

The city bus driver was operating the route from Downtown Honolulu to Waipahu.

While on the H-1 Freeway, police say the suspect approached the driver and began yelling to be let off the bus.

The suspect then allegedly began pounding on the doors and threatened the driver.

The driver alerted his supervisor of the situation and was instructed to divert from his route to meet with police at Vineyard Boulevard and Palama Street.

The suspect was arrested and officers recovered a dagger on him.

The dagger was not used during the incident.
