Man arrested for attempted murder after allegedly pushing woman in front of bus

A 57-year-old man faces attempted murder charges after he allegedly pushed a woman into the path of a bus Friday afternoon.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of North Hotel and Kekaulike Streets.

Police say the man had apparently been arguing with the victim, a 59-year-old woman, before pushing her in front of the bus.

Witnesses say the suspect, who was apparently homeless, appeared to be acting erratically.

"He was ranting like crazy stuff like all kinds of alphabet stuff, numbers I don’t know," said Camyl Schlenker, who works nearby.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-lifethreatening injuries.
The suspect remains in police custody.
