A Waianae man remains in the hospital on Sunday after he was beat on the head with a machete.
And police are still searching for the man responsible for attacking him.
We visited 52 year old Gilbert Moniz and his family at the hospital today.
He is recovering and is now listed in stable condition.
Gwen Moniz rushed to the hospital last night after hearing her brother, Gilbert, had been attacked.
"He sliced open his head in 2 places," says Gwen Moniz.
Police were called to Plantation Road in Waianae around 730 last night on reports of an apparent stabbing.
"The guy was calling my brother from the outside. They was talking and the next thing she knew he was getting attacked by the guy," relayed Moniz.
She said the man had a machete in one hand and a flashlight in the other.. and used the light to distract Moniz.
"In his face and he used the other hand to attack my brother," she said.
And she says her brother knew his attacker well.
"They worked together, so I really don’t know why he got mad at my brother and he lived right down the street."
When family members rushed to help, the suspect ran off.
"He dug out in his white chevy truck and no one can find him."
Police have opened up an assault case and family members want to see the man brought to justice.
"If he can do this to somebody, he can probably do it again. I want this guy to be put away for life," she continued.
Moniz is being monitored at the hospital through tonight, then he may be released shortly after.
