A Hawaii Kai man who robbed his father and threatened to burn down his home has been sentenced to five years probation.
Noah Perkins was sentenced in Honolulu circuit court today.
Through a plea agreement, perkins pled guilty to burglary and agreed to pay his father back $1800 dollars.
Perkins is the first person in Hawaii to be charged under new laws that protect the elderly from abuse.
The crimes he committed were normally considered misdemeanors, but were upgraded to felonies under the new laws.
His 73-year-old father was at the hearing to support him.
