A 15-year-old Maui boy was found dead in a house party Thursday afternoon.
Police arrived at the Kahului residence just before 1:30 p.m. after getting a call about an unresponsive person.
Authorities say the 15-year-old boy had died at the scene.
Police say the boy brought prescription pain medications to the party.
A 19-year-old man from Kihei was seen taking the medication along with beer and was seen in distress. He was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Hospital for treatment where he is expected to be released Friday.
Police say the owner of the home was off island and unaware that people had broken into his home without permission to party.
The owner said he did not give anyone permission to enter his property while out of town.
The investigation is still ongoing to determine how the 15-year-old boy was able to obtain prescription pain medication and who gained access to the owner’s residence without authorization.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
