Maui County‘s first responders had to deal with an early-morning brushfire on the north shore.
Fire fighters were called to the cane fields of the Hawaiian Commercial and Sugar Company in Paia around 1:20 a.m. Saturday morning to douse a 10-acre brushfire between Paia Elementary School and Rainbow County Park.
The fire was called under control by 3:30 a.m., but not before burning some crop that was close to harvest.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
