Maui fire crews responded to several calls related to the flooding on Thursday.
It started around 3:30 p.m.
A home on Kuhina Place in Makawao Ranch Acres had some flooding.
There was also a problem with a drainage grate just mauka of a home by Iolani Street.
Four vehicles were stranded in the area of Kealaloa and Hanamu Road as well as three vehicles in the Maliko Gulch area of Hana Highway.
A cottage was swept away on Kaluanui Road. No one was in the cottage at the time. Down the street from that cottage on Kaluanui Road five people who lived in a home were not able to evacuate. Maui fire crews took two of the people and the other three decided to stay in the home.
Eight homes were evacuated in Maliko Gulch.
