A Maui man who died in the Korean War has been awarded a Medal of Honor.
President Barack Obama honored Private First Class Anthony Kaho’ohanohano at a White House Ceremony Monday morning.
The 21-year-old was killed on September 1, 1951 at Chup’ari on the Korean peninsula.
His nephew, George Kahoohanohano, has for almost a decade pushed to get his uncle’s Distinguished Service Cross upgraded to a Medal of Honor.
