According to police, the incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. near a residence on Waipuilani Road.
Police say 21-year-old Bronson Foster used a bat to the smash windows of a Toyota 4-Runner belonging to a 49-year-old woman’s son.
The two men then entered a small black sedan. When the woman approached the vehicle, 31-year-old Namon Parks brandished a handgun and pointed it at the victim’s face.
The two men fled the scene and abandoned the vehicle near a residence at 968 Kapuhau Street.
Witnesses say the two men fled on foot and threw the handgun in the brush of the adjoining property.
Police pursued the suspects on foot and located them at the Maui Schooner Resort, just a short distance away from the scene.
Police say the incident stemmed from a physical confrontation on Oct. 31 between the woman’s 21-year-old son and the defendants’ 19-year-old friend at a Kihei bar.
Foster was charged with terroristic threatening in the first degree and criminal property damage. His bail was set a $1,200.
Parks was charged with terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $1,000.
Both men were later released after posting bail.
