Maui woman indicted for operating a ponzi scheme

A Maui woman has been indicted by a federal grand jury for operating a ponzi scheme that victimized six Hawaii families.

The indictment alleges that 37 year-old Jedidah Duarosan and a California man offered investment programs to various families that would pay returns of five percent a month.

The six Maui families gave Duarosan $882,000 dollars over a period of six months…. for what they were told were investments in real estate and gold.

The indictment also alleges that she in fact did not invest all that money but spent a good bit of it on herself," says Tom Simon, FBI special agent.

The indictment claims that Duarosan used the families investments to pay off her own credit card debt.

She has pled not guilty to the charge and was released from custody on a $25,000 dollar bond.

Her trial is set for January.
