Military in Hawaii going green

The Military in Hawaii is being hailed as a model for the nation to go green.

Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack toured Pearl Harbor this morning.

He pointed out several military projects that have helped advance innovative renewable energy sources.

Including using bio-diesel to power the boats that take visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial.

Vilsack says the Obama administration is committed to securing America’s energy future.
"We’re reducing our reliance on fossil fuels imported from other countries. We’re creating jobs here in America. And we’re promoting better income opportunities for our farmers, rancher and producers," says Tom Vilsack, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture.

Over the next decade, the goal is to get the navy to use 50 percent bio-fuel to power its fleet.
