More Hawaii Red Cross volunteers leave to help tornado relief efforts in the mainland

Patty Kaliher of Kauai and Jessie Kozel, Penny Lindsey and Janice Olbrich of Honolulu are heading to Alabama on Wednesday to help with tornado relief efforts.

In total, there are 11 volunteers from Hawaii that are helping the southern states that were hit by a series of devastating twisters last week.

Hawaii Red Cross volunteers will join dozens of other Red Cross chapters from across the country to aid the thousands of people affected by the tornadoes and severe storms on the mainland.

Community members interested in becoming disaster volunteers should contact their nearest Red Cross office or visit the chapter’s web site at www.hawaiiredcross.org.

All Red Cross disaster training is open to the public and offered at no cost.

To make a donation, visit www.hawaiiredcross.org or call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
