A multi-vehicle accident involving a semi-trailer shut down part of Highway 19 on the Big Island Tuesday morning.
Fire crews were called to the 7 mile marker of Highway 19 in Papaikou just after 7:30 a.m. after
The four vehicle collision involved 2 sedans, 1 pickup truck and a semi-trailer.
Fire officials say two women and three men were found injured at the scene. The women and two of the men were taken to Hilo Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. Officials say the other man denied treatment.
The highway closed for approximately one hour while crews worked to clear the scene.
