New organization aims to bring back 4th of July fireworks to Kailua

Kailua residents want their Fourth of July fireworks show back.

They’ve formed a new group called "Kailua Fireworks" to make sure it isn’t sidelined for a second year.

They’ll need to raise $70,000 to relaunch the 65-year tradition, which was cancelled last year because there wasn’t enough money to pay for it.

The group says it will have all of the necessary permits for the Fourth of July celebration in Kailua Town and has already started raising money.

They’re asking Kailua businesses for donations and are also asking the community to pitch in.

Individuals who would like to help can donate online at www.kailuafireworks.com or by mail (checks can be sent to Kailua Fireworks, 600 Kailua Road, No. 119, Kailua, Hawaii 96734). Checks should be made out to Kailua Fireworks.
