There’s a new road serving a growing neighborhood in Pearl City.
Mayor Peter Carlisle was on hand to dedicate the new Kaakepa Street.
Former council member Gary Okino helped spearhead the project, and drove the first car onto the roadway.
It links Kuala and Kuahaka Streets, and should help ease traffic congestion in the Manana area.
There are many new homes there, and its just up the street from Wal-Mart, and the Pearl City Gateway Center.
"Takes some pressure off the intersection because not all these cars congesting the intersection to get to manana.so it helps not only manana residents but it helps just generally pearl city traffic," said former City Council member Gary Okino.
The road and surrounding improvements cost $3.5 million.
