No tsunami threat for Hawaii after 6.9 magnitude quake in Kuril Islands

Residents in Kuril Islands were rocked by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake Thursday . The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake was centered about 160 miles south west of Petropavlovsk Kamchatka.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the quake.

According to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center, there is NO tsunami threat to Hawaii.
