A groundbreaking ceremony was held Friday morning for Oahu’s newest wind farm.
The 69-megawatt Kawailoa Wind Project, on Oahu’s north shore, is the work of the First Wind Hawaii company.
When complete, it will become the state’s largest wind energy facility, capable of generating enough electricity to power about 14,500 homes.
The land was provided by Kamehameha Schools.
