Off the news: Judge orders mediation for HART, Hitachi

Segment 3 work on the long-delayed Skyline project is chugging along, but amid a contentious legal battle between the Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation and its main contractor, Hitachi Rail Honolulu JV. Hitachi is suing HART for $320 million, claiming “gross mismanagement” led to costly delays; HART countersued, calling Hitachi’s claims “substantially unfounded” and that the contractor is knowingly making false statements.
