Off the news: No digging out of Oahu ‘landfill crisis’

In his State of the City speech on Wednesday, Mayor Rick Blangiardi pleaded with state legislators to help find a solution for the “landfill crisis on our doorstep.” The Waimanalo Gulch landfill in Kapolei is due to close in 2028, but years of searching for a suitable new site have been fruitless.
