Off the news: Sad turnout for corruption inquiry petition

It’s somewhat disheartening that fewer than 1,000 Hawaii folks signed an online petition urging state lawmakers to investigate an “unknown but influential legislator” who apparently accepted $35,000 in the course of a federal corruption investigation. The federal probe had led to convictions of one-time legislators J. Kalani English and Ty Cullen.
