Officer pleads no contest to insurance fraud, theft

The state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs says Honolulu Police Officer Cheyenne Garcia pled no contest to one count of insurance fraud and one count of attempted theft in the second degree.

The state says both charges are class C felonies punishable by up to five years in prison.

Garcia will be sentenced on January 11, 2012.
