A person is dead after crashing their truck into a tree on the Big Island.
It happened just 2:30 p.m. Friday near the 9 mile marker of Kohala Mountain Road.
Hawaii Fire Department officials say the truck went off the roadway and struck a tree, killing the driver.
The identity of the driver has not been released.
Part of Akoni Pule Highway was blocked off while police investigated the crash.
