Doctor Neal Palafox is stepping down as chair of the Family Medicine and Community Health Department at the John A. Burns School of Medicine.
Dr. Palafox was also the administrative director of the department.
In January, Palafox withdrew his name from consideration for director of the State Health Department.
Neither Governor Abercrombie nor Dr. Palafox provided a reason.
Palafox remains a tenured professor of medicine at John A. Burns.
