Panel discusses health care options in leeward Oahu

Since the closure of HMC in West Oahu, many in leeward Oahu are still wondering what their options are for medical care.

Tonight during a town hall meeting medical professionals and healthcare experts held a panel to discuss those options, including medical resources and urgent care facilities that are now open.

They also talked about who could step in to take over the HMC West facility.

"We probably should have had more of these kinds of sessions, not just with Kapolei, but (for) other communities that have been directly affected by what’s happened," said Dr. David Sakamoto, the State Deputy Director of Health Resources.

A leeward job fair is also in the works to provide healthcare opportunities and assistance for those who were laid off by the hospital closures.
